Hello Beautiful Soul,
My name is Jenna Horner, I’m the artist who founded Mindful Messages with the intention to make our world, specifically our schools, a brighter, safer, and more colorful place. Our mission is to create inspiring, thoughtful, and unifying murals in learning environments with the goal of having a powerful impact on the lives of generations to come. We place accomplished artists in schools throughout the state of Florida to sculpt the learning conditions hands on with students!
A key component of our success is in celebrating the transformative power of collaboration. Visiting artists and students will work together, co-creating a memorable learning experience full of joy, colorful images, and thoughtful language and ideas. The murals created through this process will be beacons of optimism and serve as reminders of our shared humanity in educational spaces.
We, along with so many, are concerned with the lack of creative opportunities afforded in our schools and communities, in particular middle and high schools. After children reach a certain age, art education is no longer a priority and Mindful Messages aims to bridge that gap by implementing artistic and mindful projects designed to uplift and unify younger generations during their formative years. I remember feeling isolated by the structure of my school experience. The emphasis on testing as the marker for success was anxiety inducing and kept me from being able to effectively learn. Academia led me to feel like a black sheep instead of feeling unique in my talents and gifts. Mindful Messages purpose is to make sure no child ever has to feel this way again and is celebrated for being who they authentically are.
